How to Love Being Single

Being single is often romanticized as a time of freedom and self-discovery and it can be. But let’s be honest: it’s not always easy. There are nights when you crave someone’s arms around you. Days when you’re tired of doing everything alone. Moments when it feels like no one truly sees you.

So how do you love being single… even when it’s hard?

  1. Validate your feelings. You’re allowed to miss intimacy or companionship without making that longing mean you’re incomplete.
  2. Create a life that excites you. Fill your days with things you actually enjoy—hobbies, routines, new experiences. Let your own joy be magnetic.
  3. Nurture non-romantic intimacy. Deep friendships, community, and meaningful conversations matter just as much as romantic love.
  4. Redefine what “alone” means. Solitude isn’t the same as loneliness. When you learn to enjoy your own company, you stop fearing quiet moments.
  5. Stay open, not desperate. You can want love while knowing your worth doesn’t depend on having it right now.

Loving being single doesn’t mean you never want a relationship. It means you’re not waiting for one to start your life. You’re already living it, fully and unapologetically.
